PERSISTENCE -

Persistence is the act of persisting, enduring, or continuing, according to the New World Dictionary, and is also a word that I use to define myself.

I have always been persistent in everything I do in life, both before, and since my injury. I am not alone in describing myself as possessing this quality, as far as head injury survivors go. When I asked other survivors how they would describe themselves since their injury, I was hit with rash of emotion. I think most people like to think of themselves as being persistent, or showing perseverance (it is kind of a noble characteristic), but after going through an experience like many of us have, it defines us as survivors.

Only another survivor knows the intense concentration and effort it takes to carry out our lives. Visit my Question & Answer page to view other survivor's responses about Persistence. Our injuries are our challenge, and we must devote each second toward our recoveries.
